Loved this…and the comment from DeanJBaker…I’ve had Bob Dylan’s ‘Slow Train Coming’ lyrics going through my mind this week…Bob had a real wake up call anointing in his writing in the late 1980s…and few seemed to listen…
Dulcinea… some words from my friend Bob, and his song
“When You Gonna Wake Up ?”
God don’t make promises that He don’t keep
You got some big dreams baby, but in order to dream you gotta still be asleep.
When you gonna wake up, when you gonna wake up
When you gonna wake up strengthen the things that remain ?
Counterfeit philosophies have polluted all of your thoughts
Karl Marx has got ya by the throat, Henry Kissinger’s got you tied up in knots.
When you gonna wake up, when you gonna wake up
When you gonna wake up strengthen the things that remain ?
You got innocent men in jail, your insane asylums are filled
You got unrighteous doctors dealing drugs that’ll never cure your ills.
When you gonna wake up, when you gonna wake up
When you gonna wake up strengthen the things that remain ?
You got men who can’t hold their peace and woman who can’t control their tongues
The rich seduce the poor and the old are seduced by the young.
When you gonna wake up, when you gonna wake up
When you gonna wake up strengthen the things that remain ?
Adulterers in churches and pornography in the schools
You got gangsters in power and lawbreakers making rules.
When you gonna wake up, when you gonna wake up
When you gonna wake up strengthen the things that remain ?
Spiritual advisors and gurus to guide your every move
Instant inner peace and every step you take has got to be approved.
When you gonna wake up, when you gonna wake up
When you gonna wake up strengthen the things that remain ?
Do you ever wonder just what God requires ?
You think He’s just an errand boy to satisfy your wandering desires.
When you gonna wake up, when you gonna wake up
When you gonna wake up and strengthen the things that remain ?
You can’t take it with you and you know that it’s too worthless to be sold
They tell you, ‘Time is money’ as if your life was worth its weight in gold.
When you gonna wake up, when you gonna wake up
When you gonna wake up and strengthen the things that remain ?
There’s a man up on a cross and He’s been crucified for you
Believe in His power that’s about all you got to do.
When you gonna wake up, when you gonna wake up
When you gonna wake up and strengthen the things that remain ?

I appreciate you commenting with these lyrics, Dean…I’m awake, and more so…
Just want to say how much I appreciate you, and your affirming, faith-based blog (I’m so glad I learned about it through Kate, at Believe Anyway). This morning I was feeling kind of “gray of heart”–just temporarily, you know–and I came here to find HIS light shining full and warm for me, and everyone who visits! Wonderful, Amazing Grace–God bless you. love, sis Caddo
You have no idea how much your it means to me, hearing you say that. I can’t say enough how much Jesus loves us…it’s just in me Love, Dulcinea
I am convinced that this post was meant for you, too. I know that others will read it and receive a touch, but know that you were having a “gray of heart” moment, and that this “little post” helped you, makes my heart smile Thank you, again, for sharing
By the way I wanted to say that I LOVE your name–isn’t it the same as the character in “Don Quixote”? Were you given it for a particular reason, I wonder? Anyway–it’s lovely!
Yes, it is from “Don Quixote” – my uncle chose it he loved the book and the musical. I like it know…I miss hearing it sung to me, too
What a wonderful thought expressed in only a few words! Lord bless you!
Thank you so much, Rob – appreciate your visit and comment
