When 1 Samuel 16:7 Rescues a Disappointing Life

a must read…

Brandon J. Adams

crossingI’m not where I hoped to be.

That’s a common phrase amongst us, but there are seasons that echo it louder than others.

It used to be that when I looked around and saw others living larger lives than mine, I’d console myself with the knowledge that they were older than I. You’re young. Just give it a few more years, I’d say. Then I’ll be there.

Didn’t happen.

Well, I overstate. Getting a bachelor’s degree and being almost out of debt from it is an elephantine blessing. I could certainly be in worse health. I’m not desperately miserable at work. The list goes on. I’ve known for a while that there will always be someone better off, and that chasing that is chasing after the wind.

But the battle rose to a new pitch recently when I took another look around at the powerful men surrounding me and realized with a start…they’re all…

Verse of the Day – Isaiah 40:25

The Bottom of a Bottle

Isaiah 40:25 Isaiah 40:25

I have searched for many things, in places that I should never have gone, but the only place I found true hope and peace, was in the presence of God, to Him, no one can compare.

THE MORE by DOWNHERE
I met You like a little child
Wide-eyed and mystified
That You could love even me, yeah
So I’m here to testify
That it’s been an amazing ride with You
And I have never walked alone
Wanna give You every moment, every minute
It takes a lifetime to know You, to know You

And the more You show me, the more You grow me
The more Your glory becomes all there is
And the more I know You, the more I need You
The more I love You, the more You become to me

Fast-forward to the golden years
A smaller pride and a bigger fear
But still…

Verse of the Day – Jeremiah 33:2-3

The Bottom of a Bottle

Jeremiah 33:2-3 Jeremiah 33:2-3

I know that from time to time I go about my world trying to do things in my own way, I forget to call out to Lord, but He is there waiting for us to call upon Him, at any time.

SO MUCH GRACE by JONATHON DAVID & MELISSA HELSER
East went looking for west but never found him
Guilt went looking for my past but only found love
I heard about a sea where sin sinks like stones
There’s no floor there just mercy down below

There’s so much grace
There’s so much grace
There’s so much grace
There’s so much grace

I heard about a Man with holes in his hands
He can hide mountains of sin in them
His smile destroyed my religion
His love shakes down my prison

There’s so much grace
There’s so much grace
There’s so much grace
There’s so much grace

The Steadfast Love of the Lord never ceases

God “knows you by name.” Such a great post!

Walter Bright

Some of you might remember this old song. We used to sing it back in the day. “The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases. His faithfulness will not come to an end. They are new every morning, new every morning – Great is thy faithfulness, oh Lord – Great is thy faithfulness.”

It paints a very accurate picture of who God is. A faithful, covenant keeping God. This is what I want to talk to you briefly on this Morning.

What is the message from the Lord in John 1:16? Let’s read it first and then unpack it.

For from his fullness we have all received, grace upon grace. John 1:16

Grace in this verse is a description of God’s unmerited favor. His unmerited favor brings salvation, healing, joy, hope and deliverance. We don’t work for it and we don’t have control of who gets it.

Both words – Grace…
